The current steel Moonwatch Professional is a 42 mm manual-wind chronograph powered by OMEGA Calibre 3861 with a stated 50-hour power reserve and 50 m / 5 bar water resistance. The black-dial Hesalite and sapphire references share that movement; crystal and caseback—not a superior calibre—drive the principal choice.
Choose it for the closest current regular-production material experience to historic Moonwatch references and a solid steel Seahorse caseback. Hesalite can mark more readily.
Ask us to source the Hesalite reference →Choose it for a scratch-resistant sapphire front crystal and a sapphire display back showing Calibre 3861. Sapphire is scratch-resistant, not scratch-proof.
View the exact sapphire Moonwatch →Water-resistance note: use the exact manufacturer's rating, verify current seals and pressure-test status, and follow OMEGA operating guidance. A rating alone is not a promise that chronograph pushers may be operated underwater.

Certification distinction: Calibre 321 is not a Co-Axial Master Chronometer. Do not apply Calibre 3861 certification language to the 321.
Choose it for Apollo 13 commemoration and the animated sapphire caseback. Its core manual-wind 3861 standard is shared with the regular Moonwatch.
View exact Snoopy →Choose it for a 44.25 mm ceramic case and lunar-relief Calibre 3869 execution. Broader Dark Side specifications vary by exact reference.
View exact Apollo 8 →Choose it when the moonphase and date complications matter more than the stripped-back no-date Moonwatch Professional formula.
View exact Moonphase →Choose Moonshine or Canopus Gold when the familiar Moonwatch architecture should have materially greater precious-metal presence.
View exact Moonshine Gold watch →Diameter alone does not predict fit. Lug-to-lug length, thickness, twisted or straight lug geometry, bracelet or strap and wrist shape all matter. Ask for current wrist and side-profile photographs when cuff clearance or visual footprint is decisive.
For most first-time buyers, the black sapphire Calibre 3861 Moonwatch is the strongest baseline: classic design, current certification and a display back. Choose Hesalite for material history, 321 for movement architecture, '57 for date and proportions, or a specialist model only when that distinction is central to the purchase.
Ask the Buying Desk to compare exact watchesThe core current Moonwatch is the 42 mm Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional powered by manual-wind Calibre 3861. OMEGA's broader Speedmaster family also includes Calibre 321, '57, Chronoscope, Moonphase and Dark Side models.
Choose Hesalite for the closest current regular-production material experience to historic Moonwatch models and a solid caseback. Choose sapphire for greater scratch resistance and a display back. Both core steel black-dial references use Calibre 3861.
No. Moonwatch, Calibre 321, current '57 and the Apollo 8 and Moonphase anchors discussed here are manual wind, while other Speedmaster families include automatic references. Verify the exact calibre.
No. OMEGA Calibre 321 is a historically reconstructed manual-wind, column-wheel architecture. It should not be described with Calibre 3861's Co-Axial Master Chronometer certification.
No. The current core models in this hub are commonly rated to 50 m, but other Speedmasters can differ. Always use the exact manufacturer's specification and confirm current seal and pressure-test status.
It is best chosen for Apollo 13 commemoration and its animated caseback. Its core manual-wind Calibre 3861 standard is shared with the regular 3861 Moonwatch, so the distinction is not a universally superior movement.
