More than a number

What does a Rolex
reference tell you?

A Rolex reference identifies a model and its configuration family. Depending on the reference, it can distinguish the case size, material, movement generation and bezel variation.

It does not always identify the dial or bracelet, and it does not establish the manufacture date or authenticity of an individual watch. Those details require the watch itself and its supporting documentation.

Before you choose

Reference lookup, explained.

Does this identify every Rolex ever made?

This lookup currently covers references represented in our catalog. A missing result does not mean a reference is invalid. Vintage and unusual configurations may need individual research.

Why can one reference show several watches?

A base reference can cover multiple dials, bracelets or individual listings. Compare the exact configuration, photographs and included documents before choosing a watch.

Can a reference tell me the year of my watch?

A model’s production period is different from an individual watch’s manufacture date, sale date or warranty-card year. The reference alone does not establish an exact production year.

Does a matching reference authenticate a Rolex?

No. A reference lookup helps identify a model. Authentication requires examination of the individual watch and its components.
