Patek Philippe's official Complications collection gathers watches with useful calendar, timing and travel functions across multiple case designs. It is not one visual family, so comparing references requires attention to both the mechanism and the form in which Patek Philippe presents it.

Annual Calendar, chronograph, World Time, Travel Time and moon-phase indications solve different needs. More functions do not automatically make a watch better for an individual owner. The sensible starting point is how the watch will be used, followed by display preference, setting routine, size, metal and movement architecture.

Annual Calendar and Calendar Combinations

Patek Philippe patented its Annual Calendar mechanism in 1996. Properly running and correctly set, an Annual Calendar recognizes 30- and 31-day months and normally needs one manual correction after February. References such as 5205, 5396 and 4947 express the function through different layouts, sizes and case styles.

The Weekly Calendar Ref. 5212A is distinct from an Annual Calendar. It displays the current week number together with the day and date, with the corresponding month, so it should be compared and operated as its own complication.

Ref. 5905 combines an Annual Calendar with a flyback chronograph, while Ref. 5326 combines an Annual Calendar with Travel Time. These combinations add utility and display complexity but also require the owner to understand setting order and pusher operation. When a calendar stops, follow the exact manual instead of improvising corrections near a date-change period.

World Time, Travel Time, Chronographs and On-Demand Display

A chronograph measures elapsed time and changes both the visual and operating experience.
