Rolex Market Report — Week Ending July 26, 2026
A permanent dated snapshot of 24 Rolex reference-level consumer asking medians, one-week movement and current Superlative Watch Co. buying pathways for July 20–July 26, 2026.
Rolex market conditions for the week ending July 26, 2026
During July 20–26, the Superlative Watch Co. Buying Desk saw Rolex below $15,000 as the strongest selling lane. Two-tone Datejust inquiries increased across newly released diamond-set Roman and green index-dial configurations. Confirmed gift inquiries for Datejust watches being purchased for women rose from five to seven, a 40% increase within a small sample, with 36 mm leading the request mix. Stainless-steel Rolex pricing was broadly steady with approximately 2% week-over-week firming in the observed dealer market. Full-gold Day-Date, GMT-Master II and Submariner configurations remained slower, while pre-owned requests often converted to unworn purchases because the actual price gap was too narrow.

SWC Buyer Demand Pulse — week ending July 26, 2026
These signals come from Superlative Watch Co. buyer requests, not from public search volume. Percentages remain provisional until the sample audit is complete, and direction-only signals remain direction-only.
Gift-driven Datejust requests for women increased 40%
+40.0%Confirmed gift inquiries rose from five to seven. The increase covered Datejust 31 and 36 combined, with 36 mm leading the request mix. Most customers cited wedding or graduation gifts, so this is a seasonal gift-demand signal rather than evidence of increased self-purchasing by women.
Datejust 31 and 36 gift inquiries for women · Confirmed small-sample Buying Desk count · Five prior-week requests; seven confirmed current-week requestsGreen-dial two-tone Datejust 41 premiums continued to normalize
UpDealer acquisition costs initially reached approximately 26% above the applicable Rolex U.S. retail price, translating into customer pricing near 30% above retail. Over six weeks, the observed customer premium compressed to approximately 15%–17% while the watches remained above retail and continued to attract requests.

What this week means for buyers and sellers
Negotiate by reference, not by the Rolex name alone
The clearest buyer opportunities were smooth-bezel Datejust 41 models below $15,000, two-tone GMT-Master II references trading approximately 5%–7% over retail in the observed market, and selected RBR-reference Day-Dates where secondary pricing recognized only part of the factory diamond bezel's retail-price increase. Exact dial and bracelet still mattered: Jubilee carried about a $1,000 observed secondary premium on ordinary Datejust 41 dials and won roughly four out of five direct bracelet comparisons.
Source an exact Rolex →Price to the actual buyer lane
Demand was concentrated by configuration rather than precious-metal content alone. Two-tone Datejusts, gift-purchased Datejust 31 and 36 models, factory diamond dials and bezels, Jubilee bracelets and sub-$15,000 inventory attracted the strongest attention. The seven confirmed gift inquiries versus five in the prior week remain a small seasonal sample, with 36 mm leading the mix. Full-gold Rolex required realistic pricing, and a pre-owned example needed a meaningful discount to compete with an unworn alternative.

The Superlative Watch Co. Rolex Market Index separates three different market signals: an observed asking-price index, first-party buyer demand, and current Superlative Watch Co. inventory. These signals are displayed separately so that a store asking price, a broader observed market price, and buyer inquiry activity are never presented as the same thing.
The price component is an observed asking-price index, not a claim of centralized exchange pricing or guaranteed transaction value. Each published reference value is based on a manually reviewed median of comparable active public listings from multiple independent secondary-market sources.
The SWC Buyer Demand Pulse uses deduplicated qualified buyer requests received by Superlative Watch Co. Requests are grouped by collection, reference or configuration and compared with the preceding equivalent period. Numerical percentage changes are withheld when the sample is too small; direction and confidence are shown instead.
Publish a numerical reference value only when at least three comparable observations are available. Show the observation count and confidence label. When fewer than three comparable observations exist, publish qualitative context only and label the numerical value unavailable.
Weekly reports are historical snapshots. Correct factual errors transparently, but do not silently rewrite past market observations. Methodology changes, reference-basket changes and material data corrections must be dated and disclosed.

What drove Rolex demand during July 20–26
This commentary reflects firsthand requests, quotes, sourcing activity and completed transactions observed by the Superlative Watch Co. Buying Desk. The figures below are directional estimates from our own activity, not claims about every dealer or the entire worldwide Rolex market. Exact results vary by reference, dial, bracelet, year, condition and set completeness.
Two-tone Datejust demand increased as release premiums cooled
Requests increased for two-tone Rolex Datejust watches across more than one newly released dial lane. Datejust 36 demand included configurations using diamond-set Roman VI and IX. Rolex describes those hour markers as 18 ct gold numerals set with 24 diamonds; they should not be confused with the separate non-diamond Day-Date treatment Rolex calls faceted, deconstructed Roman numerals.
New green index-dial Datejust 41 configurations also attracted attention. Rolex's current U.S. catalog lists the olive-green Datejust 41 in yellow Rolesor, ref. 126333-0024, at $17,700 and the mint-green Datejust 41 in Everose Rolesor, ref. 126331-0022, at $18,200. Both cited configurations have a fluted bezel and Jubilee bracelet, and each market comparison below uses its own applicable Rolex retail price.
In the dealer market observed by the Buying Desk, acquisition costs for these new green-dial configurations initially reached approximately 26% above Rolex U.S. retail, translating into customer-facing secondary-market prices of roughly 30% above retail. Over the six weeks ending July 26, the observed customer premium compressed to approximately 15%–17% above retail as release-period excitement normalized. That is a contraction of 13–15 percentage points from the early peak—not a 13%–15% decline in the watch's price. The watches continued to attract requests and remained above retail. These percentages are first-party directional observations, not a worldwide market index.
Gift-driven Datejust demand increased
Confirmed requests for Datejust watches being purchased for women rose from five during July 13–19 to seven during July 20–26. That represents two additional requests, or a 40% week-over-week increase within this relatively small Buying Desk sample.
The increase covered Datejust 31 and Datejust 36 requests combined and should not be interpreted as a 40% increase in 36 mm demand alone. Within the week's request mix, however, interest leaned toward 36 mm configurations. Diamond-set dials remained popular in both sizes, while the green ombré Datejust 36—with Chromalight index hour markers rather than diamond hour markers—may also have contributed to interest in the larger size.
Most of these inquiries came from customers purchasing gifts rather than women contacting the Buying Desk for themselves. Customers specifically cited wedding gifts for their wives and late graduation gifts for daughters, nieces and other relatives. The increase is therefore best understood as a seasonal, gift-driven demand signal—not yet evidence of a lasting change in women's self-purchasing behavior.
RBR-reference Day-Date diamond bezels gained attention
Requests increased—and several sales were completed—for Day-Date references with RBR-reference factory diamond-set bezels. The Buying Desk did not observe the same trend among TBR-reference models and does not extend this conclusion to them.
A factory diamond bezel can add more than $20,000 to Rolex retail pricing, while the observed secondary market often recognizes only about $10,000 or less of that difference. In certain configurations the diamond-bezel and non-diamond-bezel watches trade surprisingly close together. That can create relative value for a buyer who specifically wants the factory bezel, but the dial remains the decisive variable.
Stainless steel firmed, while pre-owned requests often converted to unworn
Stainless-steel Rolex pricing was broadly stable, with the Buying Desk observing approximately 2% week-over-week firming. On a watch trading near $20,000, that is roughly a $400 move—large enough to affect sourcing costs and customer pricing without constituting a broad breakout.
More customers initially asked for pre-owned watches to reduce acquisition cost. Desirable pre-owned examples were often too close to comparable unworn pricing to create a compelling saving, and many of those requests converted to unworn purchases. Pre-owned still matters when the discount is meaningful or the exact configuration is unavailable unworn.
Rolex below $15,000 led completed sales
Rolex watches priced below $15,000 were the week's strongest completed-sales category. Smooth-bezel Datejust 41 models on Oyster and Jubilee were especially active. Excluding the newest dial releases, an otherwise comparable Jubilee example carried roughly a $1,000 secondary-market premium over Oyster.
Bracelet preference helped explain the difference. In direct comparisons where both bracelets were available, the Buying Desk estimated that roughly 80% of buyers selected Jubilee even when Oyster cost less. That makes bracelet choice a commercial variable, not merely a styling detail.
Full gold remained soft; two-tone GMT-Master II offered relative value
Full-gold Day-Date, GMT-Master II and Submariner watches continued to move more slowly than their two-tone and stainless-steel counterparts. Some full-gold GMT-Master II and Submariner configurations could be sourced below current retail in the dealer market observed by Superlative Watch Co.
The two-tone GMT-Master II ref. 126713GRNR in yellow Rolesor and ref. 126711CHNR in Everose Rolesor remained among the strongest relative values. Observed secondary pricing was approximately 5%–7% above retail for immediate availability. The CHNR also exists in full Everose gold as ref. 126715CHNR; the value observation here applies specifically to the two-tone 126711CHNR.

Audemars Piguet, Breitling and Omega demand notes
Rolex remains the dataset focus of this report. The following items are separate Buying Desk commentary and are not included as Rolex index variables.
Gold Audemars Piguet captured some Day-Date buyers
Supplemental observation recorded July 29: During the two-week Buying Desk window ending July 29, multiple clients requested gold Audemars Piguet watches while comparing them with Rolex Day-Date. Certain gold AP examples could be sourced in roughly the same transaction range as the Day-Date configurations under consideration. Two clients who began their searches with a Day-Date ultimately completed purchases of AP chronographs.
This is a narrow first-party substitution signal, not a claim about the entire market. It nevertheless shows an active value comparison: when those buyers felt the Day-Date did not offer enough at its market price, they used a similar budget to move, in the Buying Desk's assessment, one horological tier higher.
Rolex finishing remains excellent, particularly its consistent polishing. The Royal Oak offers a distinctly different proposition: a faceted, tonneau-shaped case with an octagonal bezel, an integrated tapering bracelet, and strong contrast between satin-brushed surfaces and polished chamfers. Many buyers also prize the Royal Oak's traditional Tapisserie dial.
The Royal Oak's traditional Tapisserie dial is machine-cut but artisan-controlled. Its Petite and Grande Tapisserie patterns are made on restored guilloché copying machines whose underlying principle dates to an 1895 invention by Robert-Alfred Lienhard. An enlarged master pattern and the dial rotate at the same speed: a feeler traces the relief of the master, while a linked burin reproduces the motif at reduced scale in the dial. Beginning at the perimeter, the cutter moves gradually toward the center and forms the truncated pyramids and tens of thousands of microscopic diamond shapes that create the dial's changing reflections.
Audemars Piguet describes these hand-crafted dials as always slightly different from one another, although it notes that modern differences can be imperceptible to the naked eye. The individuality comes from an artisan-controlled process on historic machines that are set and adjusted by hand—not from printing or a deliberately imperfect final rotation.
Watch Audemars Piguet's official guillochage film →
Breitling Chronomat B01 Chronograph 42
Breitling requests increased, particularly for the 2026 Chronomat B01 Chronograph 42. The MY26 redesign measures 13.77 mm thick versus 15.1 mm for the preceding model and uses a lug-less construction, one-piece bezel and fully integrated adjustable Rouleaux bracelet. Buyers responded to the thinner profile and more tonneau-like silhouette; “tonneau-like” is a descriptive observation, not Breitling's official case designation.
Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch
Omega interest also increased around the lacquered white-dial Speedmaster Moonwatch Professional ref. 310.30.42.50.04.001 and the 2026 black-and-white inverted-dial ref. 310.30.42.50.01.004. In the Buying Desk's observed market, the most sought-after recent Speedmaster releases had previously traded about 15%–20% above retail and had moved much closer to retail by this period. Secondary-market availability could still offer practical value when the desired configuration was unavailable through Omega.
